PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a receiver to perform temporary recording/reproduction while limiting to time shift recording even for a program which it is forbidden to record in digital broadcasting, whereby the user's convenience is improved and the broadcaster's copyright is protected. SOLUTION: A digital signal having a control flag relating to temporary copy permission is input, and the digital signal is temporarily recorded in a recording medium based on the condition of the control flag, and is temporarily reproduced from the recording medium based on the condition of the control flag. Temporary copy permits recording/reproduction, depending on conditions, i.e., the type of the recording medium, reproduction time, a reproduction period, and the number of times of reproduction.
