摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of correction processing in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A printer 10 includes: an image forming unit 40; a control unit 82; optical sensors 24 and 26; a determination unit 76; a modification unit 78; and a correction unit 80. The image forming unit 40 forms first and second batches on a belt. The optical sensors 24 and 26 detect the respective marks contained in the first and second batches. The correction unit 80 performs the correction processing for the image forming unit 40 based on detection values obtained by the optical sensors 24 and 26. In the printer 10, if one of the first and second batches is determined to be abnormal, the detected value obtained from one of the batches is altered using the detection value obtained from the other batch, thereby correcting an image forming position of the forming unit by use of the modified detected value and increasing the detection values usable for the correction processing.
