PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardness measuring reagent for efficiently measuring test water, especially, the hardness of unsterilized test water, by using a device having a compact structure. SOLUTION: The hardness measuring reagent contains (1) a hardness measuring reagent, containing a pigment component containing Eriochrome Black T and/or calmagite, and a bacteriostatic agent component containing benzoic acid or its salt, and/or para hydroxybenzoic acid ester; and (2) a hardness measuring reagent comprising a combination of a first reagent including a pigment component containing Eriochrome Black T and/or calmagite; and a second reagent containing a bacteriostatic agent component that contains benzoic acid or its salt and/or parahydroxybenzoic acid ester.
