<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television apparatus which not only suppresses power consumption and is capable of securing a viewing environment suitable for a user. <P>SOLUTION: In a television apparatus 100, a user detector 151 confirms the existence of viewers on the basis of an image inputted from an imaging unit 150. A power controller 160 continues the power supply to a speaker unit 130 while starting limiting the power supply to the display unit 120 at a first time point after the time when the user detector 151 is no longer able to confirm the existence of viewers.
