PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray imaging apparatus or the like which acquires a differential phase contrast image of an object without using a light-shielding mask of X-rays. SOLUTION: The X-ray imaging apparatus includes an X-ray source, a splitting element for spatially dividing the X-ray emitted from the X-ray source, and a scintillator which emits light when an X-ray beam divided at the splitting element arrives at the scintillator. The apparatus also includes a light transmission limiting means for limiting the transmitting amount of the light emitted at the scintillator and a plurality of light detectors each of which detects the amount of light that has transmitted through the light transmission limiting means. The light transmission limiting means is configured such that the light intensity detected at each of the light detectors changes in accordance with the change in an incidence position of the X-ray beam.
