PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support member capable of producing at low cost a bird injury-proof instrument to be installed swingably on an electric cable hung and suspended in the air, and to provide such a bird injury-proof instrument using the support member. SOLUTION: The bird injury-proof instrument 1 includes: a set of installing members 3 to be installed swingably on an electric cable; and a first linear member 5 and a second linear member 6 each attachable to/detachable from these installing members 3; wherein each of the installing members 3 is composed by combining a set of division members 30 and 30 of the identical shape. As the bird injury-proof instrument 1 is formed so that each of the installing members 3 uses the set of division members 30 and 30 formed to the identical shape, the instrument 1 can be produced at low cost. Besides, as this instrument 1 is divisible into the four division members 30 and the first linear member 5 and the second linear member 6, the instrument 1 can be repaired by the operation of merely replacing the broken constituent(s) even if one or more of these constituent members are broken.
