PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a configuration having a function of achieving a manual gear shift mode selecting a gear ratio by a driver, promptly changing the gear ratio of a continuously variable transmission to the gear ratio selected by the driver, and ensuring excellent reliability and durability. SOLUTION: When a switching point for a low-speed mode and a high-speed mode exists between a target gear ratio selected based on a manual gear shift function and the current gear ratio as the present gear ratio, after detecting that the target gear ratio is selected, control for connecting/disconnecting a low-speed clutch to/from a high-speed clutch is immediately started.
