<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cement-based building material, in which a cement hardened body can be dried in a short period of time by raising the heating temperature while restraining the cement hardened body from being cracked. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the cement-based building material comprises heating and drying the cement hardened body, which is obtained by aging and hardening a cement material, in a drying unit. When the cement hardened body is heated in the drying unit, hot water is sprayed toward the surface of the cement hardened body in the middle of heating the cement hardened body. Since water is replenished, a moisture gradient between the inside of the cement hardened body and the surface thereof is made small and stress which is produced between the surface of the cement hardened body and the inside thereof due to a moisture content difference, can be reduced.
