<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light emitting device capable of largely suppressing the lowering of display contrast. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device includes a package body 1 with a recessed, a semiconductor light emitting element 3 mounted to a bottom of the recessed, and a translucent sealing resin 4 filled in the recessed. The sealing resin 4 contains particles and is formed ranging from the recessed to an upper surface 1a of the package body, and on at least the upper surface 1a of the package body, has a protruded part which is formed along the shape of the particle.
