PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time necessary for recording when complementary recording is performed to complement omission or a space resulting from an abnormal record element. SOLUTION: The complementary record is performed in a record area corresponding to the record element where the abnormality on a record medium occurs by controlling either normal record elements in record heads whose colors are different from the abnormal color (S470). The complementary record can be performed by one scan, and by this, it is possible to suppress the time necessary for the complementary recording. Since the color area of the circumferential image (or an image in a predetermined range containing the record area where the abnormal record element must record) is reflected in the complementary recording (S440), it is possible to prevent the deterioration of the quality of the record image.
