<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inexpensive and small apparatus capable of quickly, accurately, and contactlessly recognizing a target object such as a gesture. <P>SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes: a means for converting one parallax image to a gray scale image having at least two or more levels; and a means for extracting a continuous pixel group having an identical level continuous in a predetermined direction from the converted gray scale image as an object, setting a reference region in the one parallax image based on a position of the object and a predetermined maximum allowable parallax value with respect to each of the object, setting a search area in the other parallax image, searching a similar region similar to the reference region by performing a template matching in the search area using an image of the reference region as a template, and determining a parallax value related to the object based on a difference between positions of the reference region and the similar region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
