PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit for generating a copy-protected image, in any of a plurality of copying machines that detect different kinds of copy-protected images. SOLUTION: The image processing unit receives image data to be processed, acquires a plurality of kinds of information that are embedded in images to be copied and indicate the copy-protected images for restricting copy of the images by being detected by the copying machines, according to different kinds of copying machines that detect different kinds of copy-protected images, embeds each of the plurality of kinds of copy-protected images corresponding to the acquired information in the image data to be processed, and generates and outputs an image to be formed.
