PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery charging method and a secondary battery charge controlling device wherein charging can be continued even when the battery voltage of a secondary battery exceeds a protection voltage because of a relatively large charging current during an initial phase of the charging, and a battery pack charged with this charging method. SOLUTION: When all of the voltage values of a battery block that are read two consecutive times (or three consecutive times) at a period of 250 ms is higher than a protection voltage of 4.32 V (or a setting voltage of 4.30 V), it is determined that the voltage of the battery block exceeds the protection voltage (or the setting voltage). Then, a target value of charging current is reduced to 0.1 C (or reduced to a value smaller than the currently-set target value) at the first determination. Each time it is detected that the voltage of the battery block exceeds the setting voltage, the target value of the charging current is reduced at a predetermined reduction rate. The supplied charging current is thereby exponentially reduced and the charging operation is continued.
