PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly estimate a position of a vehicle compartment line and outputs proper driving support information. SOLUTION: A driving support apparatus for output of the driving support information to a driver includes: a white line detection means that detects a vehicle compartment line that is laid down on right and left sides of a traffic lane on which the vehicle travels; a road side object detection means that detects road side objects that are laid down on both sides of the traffic lane on which the vehicle travels; a virtual line estimation means that estimates a position of the virtual compartment lines, being virtual vehicle compartment line used for output of the driving support information based on the vehicle compartment line detected by the white line detection means and the road side objects detected by the road side object detection means; and an information output means that outputs the driving support information based on the virtual compartment line estimated by the virtual line estimation means.
