PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus including a surface recovering means for recovering surface property of a fixing member, which prevents the occurrence of irregular gloss caused by a change of the surface property of the fixing member due to deterioration of the surface recovering performance of the surface recovering means. SOLUTION: A fixing device includes a control part that controls the surface recovering means having a rubbing member configured to rub the surface of the fixing member.
