PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying device capable of reducing cost by limiting the function of an image forming device body by reducing the number of part items, and capable of also restoring the limited function of the image forming device body by installing reduced parts again. SOLUTION: This paper carrying device includes a carrying passage and a switching gate 210. The paper carrying device is provided with a space capable of installing a solenoid 230 for electrically operating the switching gate 210 to the switching gate 210 and a spring 240 for restoring the switching gate 210 to an original position. The switching gate 210 is not attached with the solenoid 230 and the spring 240 preinstallable in its space. The paper carrying device includes a fixing member for fixing the switching gate 210 or releasing a fixation for positioning the switching gate 210 in a first position or a second position.
