<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed method for assigning a unique name to endpoints used in a peer-to-peer type collaboration system. <P>SOLUTION: This schema assigns a unique number to each endpoint of each of the telespace members. Each number of a certain member indicates the order in which the member joined the telespace, and, for each member invited to join by another telespace member, it also indicates the inviting member. As more and more members are invited to join by those new members, assignment numbers further add the number of digits to indicate the family tree or chain of inviting members.
