PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overleap channel retrieval in a frequency band in which the possibility of stable receiving is low, thereby shortening time required for the channel retrieval effectively. SOLUTION: A broadcast receiving apparatus 1 is for reception of digital broadcasting in a plurality of frequency bands, and a plurality of antennas 11 to 13 can be used in response to a receiving frequency band for digital broadcasting in these plurality of frequency bands. The broadcast receiving apparatus has antenna detecting sections 14 and 15 for detecting the states of the plurality of antennas, and a broadcasting reception control section 21 determines a receivable frequency band in response to a detection result by the antenna detecting sections 14 and 15, and limits a channel intended for tuning to a channel in the receivable frequency band.
