<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device capable of reducing the torque of a rotary shaft without impairing the sealing performance. <P>SOLUTION: A seal lip 5 includes a first seal lip 11 for precluding leakage of a sealing fluid when the rotary shaft S is stopped and a second seal lip 21 extended from the forefront of the first seal lip 11 for preventing the sealing fluid from leaking when the rotary shaft S rotates. A garter spring 14 for retaining a tightening force in the radial direction between the seal lip 5 and the rotary shaft S is installed on the back face of the first seal lip 11 forefront 13 on the outside in the radial direction. The interference of the first seal lip 11 is set to the minimum value required to prevent sealing fluid leakage from the sealed side OS to the atmosphere AS when the rotary shaft S is stopped. The sealing surface 22 of the second seal lip 21 is provided with a plurality of threads 24 for connection to the lip forefront 23 so configured that the lip forefront 23 contacts with the surface of the rotary shaft S in a plurality of positions in the circumferential direction of the rotary shaft S. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
