PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic capacity detecting switch having a simple construction and producing multiple functions, and to provide a method for controlling electronic equipment. SOLUTION: In the electrostatic capacity detecting switch 1 for detecting a change of an electrostatic capacity, a key pad 5 as an elastically deformable dielectric operation body having insulating property is mounted on a conductive pattern 3 of a substrate 2 so that a finger is put in contact with the keypad 5 to form a capacitor. The key pad 5 is formed with a mounting part 6 mounted on the conductive pattern 3 of the substrate 2, a deformable leg part 7 obliquely rising from the mounting part 6, and an operated part 8 formed on the leg part 7 and opposed to the conductive pattern 3 of the substrate 2 in a spaced but contactable manner.
