PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that conventionally only illuminance of the surrounding area of the installation location of a refrigerator is taken into consideration for a determination as to switch operation modes between a normal operation and an energy-saving operation, which results in detecting illuminance having a number of disturbing factors, and thus failing to achieve exact switching of operation modes. SOLUTION: It is configured such that illuminance information detected by an illuminance detector 33 and status information concerning the use of a refrigerator detected by a status detector 37 are both input into a determination unit 41 to make a determination as to switch operation modes, whereby a highly reliable energy-saving operation can be controlled.
