Harvesting machine with a harvesting attachment and a support wheel

The machine (10) has a chassis (12) supported at the bottom by front wheels (14), rear wheels (16) and/or a crawler drive, and a harvesting attachment (20) e.g. cutting unit, attached to a feeding conveyor (30). A support wheel (54) is attached to the bottom and arranged upstream to one of the front wheels or the crawler drive, and an actuator (64) moves a support load of the support wheel. The actuator is controlled based on an increase in a supporting force of the support wheel during braking of the machine. The support wheel is fastened at the harvesting attachment and/or the conveyor.
