755,565. Toothed gearing. SOC. ANON. DES ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS C. BERTHIEZ. May 21, 1954 [April 9, 1954], No. 15009/54. Class 80(1) In an epicyclic reduction drive from a driving shaft 2 to the spindle 1 of a machine tool, such as boring or milling machine, a sun gear 6 on the driving shaft 2 drives through planet pinions 7 engaging a fixed annulus 11 and the carrier 10 of the planets which is secured to the spindle 1. To take up backlash in the gearing further planets pinions 8 coaxial with the planets 7 also engage with the sun gear 6 and another annulus 13 which latter is adapted to be urged in a direction opposite to the rotation of the spindle 1 by a spring-loaded pawl 14. The pawl 14 is carried on a cylindrical member 18, Fig. 4, slidable in the gear-casing and acted upon by either of springs 16 or 17, supported by an abutment piece 19 which is adjustable. by an eccentric pin 25 on a rotatable member 24. according to the direction of rotation of the spindle. The axes of the planets are distributed irregularly about the central axis of the gearing to compensate for errors in the gear profiles |
