The system (24) has a water supply, and an evaporator i.e. instantaneous water heater (3), supplied with liquid from the water supply. A water passage control device e.g. pump (15), controls water flow from the water supply to the evaporator. The system partially runs at a wall e.g. intermediate rear wall, of a household appliance e.g. steam cooker (D) and baking-oven, and exhibits a V-shaped to U-shaped gradient. The water supply includes a water reservoir and/or a water channel to the evaporator. The evaporator is arranged at the wall. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a steam generation system for a household appliance.
