PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for binary arithmetic decoding are provided to shorten the decoding processing time by performing an efficient interworking operation between a processor and a hardware binary arithmetic decoder. CONSTITUTION: A processor unit(20) creates an information message including plural context indexes, and transfers the created information messages. A binary arithmetic decoder(30) receives the information message, and selects one from plural context indexes according to a previously-decoded binary value. The binary arithmetic decoder decodes an Nth binary value based on the selected context index. |
