The present invention relates to DNA coding for glycoprotein VI having an amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 3 or biologically active fragments thereof that bind to collagen wherein the DNA of the present invention preferably has the sequence SEQ ID NO: 1 or fragments thereof, which code for glycoprotein VI biologically active fragments and that bind to collagen. Further, the invention relates to a recombinant human glycoprotein VI containing an amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 3, and pharmaceutical composition containing the glycoprotein VI, which optionally further contains a pharmacologically active compound being selected from the group consisting of anticoagulants, thrombolytic agents, blood platelet receptor antagonists differing from the glycoprotein VI and ADP-receptor antagonists. The invention also relates to the use of the above-indicated recombinant human glycoprotein VI in a screening composition for detecting specific inhibitors of platelet-collagen interactions or for the preparation of a medicament intended for the treatment of thrombotic and cardiovascular events and disorders related to the platelet-collagen interactions. |
