PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state image pickup device capable of reducing a dark current amount and improving an S/N ratio. SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device includes: a photoelectric conversion section (11) having a plurality of photodiodes; a CCD section (12) supplying a signal charge supplied from the photoelectric conversion section (11) to a charge detection section (14); and a charge storage section (13) provided between the photoelectric conversion section (11) and the CCD section (12) and storing the signal charge. Here, the charge storage section (13) preferably includes memory sections (23, 24) corresponding to each of the plurality of photodiodes. The memory sections (23, 24) include: a first memory section (23); a second memory section (24) driven independently from the first memory section (23); and a reset drain (26) resetting a charge supplied to the second memory section (24).
