PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric appliance that reduces average film resistance of a transparent conductive film included in an EL element. SOLUTION: The electric appliance includes a plurality of EL elements. Each element includes an electrode, the transparent conductive film, and an EL layer sandwiched between the electrode and the transparent conductive film. A light-shielding metal film is provided in contact with the transparent conductive film of the EL element so as to overlap a gap between an edge of the electrode of the EL element and an adjacent electrode. Thus, the average film resistance of the transparent conductive film of the EL element is reduced. Furthermore, the EL element emits light with desired brightness or chromaticity.
