PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire and a lighting system allowing an inspecting operation and capable of lighting a lamp as long as possible in a failure of a power source. SOLUTION: The luminaire includes: a chargeable battery; an operating means-connecting part connected with an operating means to operate a lighting state from the outside by the operating means; and a lighting device connected with the power source and the battery to light the lamp, switching a mode between a normal mode of charging the battery in a normal state of the power source and lighting the lamp with the power of the battery in an abnormal state of the power source and an inspection mode of lighting the lamp for a predetermined time with the power of the battery for inspection, and shifting to the normal mode when the operating means is operated in the inspection mode. The lighting system includes the luminaire, a control means controlling the luminaire to switch from the normal mode to the inspection mode, and a communication means connecting the control means with the luminaire to be communicated with each other.
