PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that automatically prevents undesired flash of light and electronic sound, without disturbing sleep of a person to be captured. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an optical system 101 that generates an optical image of the person to be captured; an image sensor 301 that converts the optical image into image signals; a flashing means 102 that emits a flash of light to the person; a determining means 305c that determines whether the eyes of the person included in the image signals are open or closed; and a control means 305b that prevents the flashing means 102 from emitting flash light when the determining means 305c determines that the eyes are closed.
