PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper splice method of a rotary press for newspaper printing capable of preventing creasing caused by flying of paper even in the case of high speed printing of newspaper printing paper in which a large quantity of used paper is blended. SOLUTION: A plurality of newspaper rolls of the newspaper printing paper are held on a circumference around a rotary shaft 35 and the following processes are executed sequentially; a paper press process for contacting a pressing member 44 with a free travelling area of a first paper at the time of high speed printing while the free travelling area of the first paper 11 is from 1,350 to 1,670 mm and while keeping a first web arranged at a paper feed position S without rotating a rack 30 before starting an operation for detecting a remaining quantity of the first web 21 which is being fed and splicing a second paper of a second web 22; a rack rotation and adhesion process for moving the first web away from a fixing roller 28 by rotating the rack after the paper press process, moving the second web close to a paper splicing position R and adhering the second paper with the first paper; a cutting process for cutting the first paper; a reset process for rotating the pressing member to move the second web to the paper feed position.
