PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce leakage current of a transistor even if a drive frequency is low. SOLUTION: In a writing period Tw, a driving circuit supplies a scanning signal Yi that turns on the first and second transistors via a scanning line 102. Also, it supplies data signals Xj corresponding to a gradation to be displayed via a data line 103 and writes a data signal in an auxiliary capacitance Cs1 and liquid crystal Clc. In a holding period Th following the writing period, the driving circuit supplies a scanning signal, which turns on the first and second transistors, via the scanning line 102. In a holding period, it supplies a capacitance line 101 with a capacitance line signal Vsi that changes the potential of the other electrode of the auxiliary capacitance Cs1.
