PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet type image forming apparatus capable of obtaining an image with a high image quality with a high image density, and less feathering, bleeding and beading on a plain paper at a high speed without using such an article of consumption as a reaction liquid and a processing liquid except a recording liquid, and capable of detecting a nozzle delivering condition with a simple and inexpensive constitution and rapidly performing recovery processing of a nozzle. SOLUTION: When an electrically-conductive recording liquid is delivered from the nozzle under a condition that an electric voltage is applied between the nozzle of a recording head 61 and an intermediate transferring drum 37 by an electric voltage applying means 33, a liquid columnar bridge consisting of the recording liquid is formed, and during this or before and after this, electric discharge occurs near the liquid column. This electric discharge light 70 is detected by a light receiving means 71, and on the basis of this result, whether the nozzle delivering condition is good or not is judged.
