PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas fan heater which can securely detect leakage of fuel gas due to connection failure of a gas hose. SOLUTION: A gas inlet 8 pipe-connected to a valve for a burner is provided to project from a back surface of a machine below a ventilation port 13 formed at a part on a control chamber side on the back surface of the machine. The gas inlet has a stepped shape having a large diameter part 84 for receiving an end surface of the gas hose H and includes a hose connection pipe part 83 in parallel with the machine back surface. The gas inlet includes a diffusion plate 85 extending radially outward from a large diameter part of the hose connection pipe part along a surface orthogonal to an axis of the hose connection pipe part. The part on the control chamber 4 side of the back surface of the machine 1 is formed with a through-hole 14 at a position nearer to the gas inlet than the ventilation port and in a range that fuel gas leaked by connection failure of the gas hose H to the hose connection pipe part hits the diffusion plate to be diffused.
