METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OBTAINING AN ELECTROCARDIOGRAM USING DUAL DRY ELECTRODES

The invention relates to the obtainment of an electrocardiogram (ECG) using two dual dry electrodes. Each electrode has two independent conductive contact surfaces, one of which acts as a measurement electrode and another which acts as a reference electrode for the voltage measurements on the electrocardiograph. The patient simply has to come into contact with two of said dual electrodes in order for the ECG to be obtained using a traditional differential voltage amplifier. The two dual electrodes can be disposed on a single mechanical support, such as a steering wheel or handlebar, so that each hand comes into contact with a respective dual electrode, by means of pressing, gripping or touching. The proximity of a reference electrode to each measurement electrode and the connection therebetween reduces the interferences in differential mode since the measurement electrodes are at potentials of 50 Hz which are similar to the reference electrodes, such that no currents of 50 Hz flow therebetween, but only currents due to the ECG. For increased patient comfort, the amplified signal can be transmitted wirelessly to a nearby receiver.
