<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar light source device capable of using light from a light source in high utilization efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The planar light source device 20 includes a light guide plate 30, a light source 24a arranged in opposition to a light-incident surface 33 of the light guide plate, and an optical sheet 60 arranged facing a light-emitting surface 31 of the light guide plate. The light guide plate includes a base part 40, and a plurality of unit-shaped elements 50 arrayed on a surface of one side of the base part, each linearly extending in a direction of crossing its arraying direction. The optical sheet 60 is provided with its sheet-like body part 65, and a plurality of unit lenses 70 arrayed in parallel on a facing-side surface, from a side facing to the light guide plate of the body part 65, with each linearly extending in a direction of crossing its arraying direction.
