PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology to improve workability of branching the second half of an optical fiber cable without interrupting acquisition of a small-diameter, high-density optical fiber cable wherein an optical fiber unit is housed. SOLUTION: An intermittent type coated optical fiber ribbon obtained by arranging a plurality of core optical fibers in parallel, then, intermittently connecting the adjacent optical fibers by a fiber-to-fiber connection part in the longitudinal direction functions as a subunit, then, the optical fiber unit is constituted by arranging the plurality of subunits in parallel, and then, intermittently connecting the adjacent subunits by a subunit-to-subunit connection part in the longitudinal direction. Further, one portion of the fiber-to-fiber connection part in one subunit or one portion on the outer peripheral surface of the optical fiber constituting the subunit is connected to one portion of the fiber-to-fiber connection part in the other subunit or one portion on the outer peripheral surface of the optical fiber constituting the subunit by the subunit-to-subunit connection part for the adjacent subunits.
