PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel (meth)acrylate compound that has a high refractive index and yet is liquid at room temperature and therefore easily forms an optical member. SOLUTION: The (meth)acrylate compound is represented by formula (1) and is manufactured through a step of adding fuming sulfuric acid to fluorobenzenethiol to obtain a difluorothianthrene, a step of obtaining bis[(hydroxyalkyl)sulfanyl]thianthrene, and a step of causing a (meth)acrylic halide to react with bis[(hydroxyalkyl)sulfanyl]thianthrene. In formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and m's are each independently an integer of 1-4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
