PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel (meth)acrylate compound that has a high refractive index and yet is liquid at room temperature and therefore easily forms an optical member. SOLUTION: The (meth)acrylate compound is represented by formula (1) and is manufactured through a step of adding fuming sulfuric acid to fluorobenzenethiol to obtain a difluorothianthrene, a step of obtaining bis[(hydroxyalkyl)sulfanyl]thianthrene, and a step of causing a (meth)acrylic halide to react with bis[(hydroxyalkyl)sulfanyl]thianthrene.
