PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make both compatible in an improvement in wet performance and on-ice performance by an increase in a pattern edge by crowding arrangement of blocks and the prevention of partial abrasion of a shoulder area of the tread part. SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire, the tread part 1 is provided with a block group G composed of a plurality of rows L2-L4 of a block row of juxtaposing the blocks 16 in the tire peripheral direction by being partitioned by a peripheral directional main groove 10 positioned on the outermost side in the tire width direction, a plurality of peripheral directional sub-grooves 12a, 12b and 12c smaller in a groove width than the peripheral directional main groove 10 and extending in the tire peripheral direction between shoulder block rows L1 and a plurality of peripheral grooves 14 extending by crossing with these grooves. Distances d1, d2 and d3 between the mutual blocks adjacent in the tire width direction via the peripheral directional sub-grooves 12, gradually reduce toward the outside in the tire width direction.
