The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for bandwidth adaptation in a wireless LAN system. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method in which a first station (STA), which operates as an unlicensed device in an available channel that is not used by a licensed device in a TV white space (TVWS) band in a wireless LAN system, performs bandwidth adaptation in such a way that the first station senses at least one TV channel of channels used for communication with a second station, and transmits a frame to the second station, wherein the frame includes a first field which indicates whether or not a signal of the licensed device is detected in said at least one TV channel during the sensing, and a second field which contains information on the change of the bandwidth of the channel which is induced in accordance with the result of the sensing.
