PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device, along with an image forming apparatus, inspection method and inspection program, capable of reducing delay of first print and occurrence of downtime associated with inspection. SOLUTION: An inspection mode setter 101 selectively sets any of a normal inspection mode, a post-JAM treatment inspection mode, and an inspection mode with belt life determination. When the normal inspection mode is set, a determiner 105 starts generating sampling data of output voltage of a toner mark sensor 20 before a predetermined standby time from the start of driving of an intermediate transfer belt is over, and determines whether abnormalities of the intermediate transfer belt or the toner mark sensor 20 exist by comparing the generated sampling data with criterion values, wherein the determination is carried out by using relaxed criterion values compared with those when other inspection modes are set.
