PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire operating device which keeps an operational force of pushing a wire rope equal to that of pulling it by suppressing bending of the wire rope against compression when pushed, to secure the strength. SOLUTION: The wire operating device includes a driving side pulley 2 stored in a pulley storage recessed portion 7 of a driving side base 6, a driven side pulley 3 stored in a pulley storage recessed portion 7 of a driven side base 6, and one wire rope 4 wound on the driving side pulley 2 and driven side pulley 3. On the front face of a pulley body 2a of each pulley facing the bottom face of the pulley storage recessed portion 7, an annular guide groove 21 is formed all over the periphery. A wire rope insertion hole 17 is formed to be obliquely communicated with a range from the outside of each base 6 to the bottom face of the peripheral edge of the pulley storage recessed portion 7. The wire rope 4 is arranged along the inside of the annular guide groove 21, with one end fixed to the pulley body 2a and its intermediate part passing through the wire insertion hole 17.
