NEW FLIP-FLOP INTERFERENCE PIGMENTS

A new flip-flop interference pigment comprises a transparent or semitransparent inorganic material flake as substrate. The surface of the substrate is coated with coating layers (A), (B), (C) and an optional coating layer (D) in sequence to form a coating structure with high/low/high refractive index. The coating layers (A) and (C), which are formed by high refractive index materials, include metal oxides, silicates, aluminates and/or the mixture thereof. The coating layer (B), which is formed by low refractive index materials, includes silicon oxide, hydrated silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, hydrated aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide, hydrated magnesium oxide and/or the mixture thereof. The pigments can be used for pigmenting of coating material, paint, ink, plastics, glass, ceramic products and formulating of cosmetics.
