<p>The invention relates to a method for transmitting data, wherein an encoded datum is displayed in the form of image sequences on a terminal screen, an image representing a predetermined number of elementary encoding surfaces having a color that varies on the basis of said encoded datum such that a portable device including associated optical sensors, the number of which is the same as that of the elementary encoding surfaces, is capable of detecting said displayed image sequences for deriving said encoded data therefrom, characterized in that it comprises displaying the images, said elementary encoding surfaces of which have separate dimensions.
