The gear pump has gear wheels (3, 4) for conveying fluid medium and rotatably held in a pump casing (1). A pump shaft (5) drives one of the gear wheels, and has a coupling end (5.3) protruded from the casing. A coupling housing (9) is provided at the coupling end for accommodating the coupling end and a drive shaft, and firmly connected with the casing. A coupling sleeve (11) is rotatably supported in the housing, and held at the coupling end in a form-fit manner. The sleeve has a profiled plug-in hole (11.2) within the housing in an extension of the pump shaft.
