PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a curling of a tip of a sheet or a sheet bundle, when discharging a zigzag folded sheet or a bound sheet bundle to a discharge paper tray, or a sagging of the sheet bundle under a weight thereof, by using a simple structure, thereby preventing the occurrence of a paper jam or an inferior stacking. SOLUTION: The paper discharge apparatus conveys a sheet 504b and discharges the sheet 504b one by one or in a state of laminating a plurality of sheets. The discharge apparatus includes: discharge rollers 205, 206 which apply a conveying force to the sheet 504b; a discharge guide plate 240 and an opening/closing guide plate 243; and a retractable roller 217, which is retractably supported for the sheet, and which rotates in a moving direction together with a move of the sheet.
