<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light diffusion optical member capable of suppressing the generation of a Newton ring even when the light diffusion optical member is superimposed and arranged on other optical sheets, etc. and achieving a natural high-quality color display, without being red when viewed not only from a front direction, but also from an oblique direction. <P>SOLUTION: The light diffusion optical member 3 comprises a resin composition containing a transparent material and a light diffusion particle. When the absolute value of the difference between the refractive index of the transparent material and the refractive index of the light diffusion particle is denoted as "Δn" and the cumulative 50% particle diameter of the light diffusion particle is denoted as "D<SB>50</SB>"(μm), a relational expression of 0.01≤Δn×D<SB>50</SB>≤0.25 is established.
