PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To access data even when a logical-physical translation table fails. SOLUTION: Index information (logical address) is recorded in a management data area provided at the head of each physical block of a flash memory. When a command accompanied by a specified logical address is received from a host, the logical address is translated into a physical address by reference to a logical-physical translation table (S120). The index information is read out from the management data area of the physical block indicated by the physical address to determine whether the logical-physical translation table is normal (S130, S140). If it is not normal, the index information is read out from the management data area of each physical block to repair the logical-physical translation table (S150), and the logical address is translated into a physical address by reference to the repaired logical-physical translation table and access is made to the physical block indicated by the physical address to execute a process based on the command (S120-S160).
