CHARACTER RECOGNITION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognition system wherein an imaging device incorporated in a handy type code reader can image only reflected light from a printing layer without being affected by reflected light from a surface layer. SOLUTION: The character recognition system including the handy type two-dimensional code reader having a character recognition processing function includes: a light source; a first polarizer for polarizing light from the light source; a second polarizer for polarizing reflected light from an object; the imaging device for receiving second polarized light resulting from polarizing the reflected light from the object by the second polarizer; a first storage means for storing output data of the imaging device; a second storage means for registering character recognition data library information; and an information input/output means for inputting/outputting information to/from an external connected device.
