PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ion generating devices and an ion existence determining method which can prevent deterioration of ion existence determination accuracy due to an effect of a humidity. SOLUTION: The ion generating devices 6a, 6b and the ion generating devices 6c, 6d are turned on at different timings, a measuring part 67 measures a potential of a collection electrode 66 collecting generated ions, and it is determined that the ions exist (or do not exist) when a difference of an output voltage of the measuring part 67 is larger (smaller) than a threshold. A humidity detecting part 80 is disposed in a duct 5, a determination threshold is set according to a humidity detected by the humidity detecting part, it is not determined whether the ions exist, when the detected humidity is equal to or higher than a predetermined humidity. When a no-ion determination count reaches a predetermined count, a warning is issued to a user by a LED of a display part and a buzzer of an operating part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
